Ability to send messages with friend requests!

in suggestions, feedback, and requests

Something that would help social interactions a lot is if you are able to send messages with your friend requests because as it stands now, there's no way to contact someone to let them know you who are which could even lead to a friend blocking you if they don't recognize your profile(true story), and for those that are against this idea, add a setting in your profile that disables people being able to send you messages with their friend request, for instance: 1. Cx3cortez has sent you a friend request: "Hello Peter, this is Carol, we used to play Counterstrike together. I hope you'll accept my friend request!" 2. bluestorm has sent you a friend request: "Hi, I saw you in the music group would you like to be my friend?"

    No, it would be abused to spam random strangers, or harass other players.

    It's has been requeste so many times, and it's still a very bad idea.

    In a perfect world, it would be a great feature, Steam is just not that world.

    You can easily report & block people who abuse it, & they could even add a feature where you could turn it off in your settings if you don't want people sending you messages with their requests.

    I don't need the extra workload reporting/blocking abusers, it's better the way it is now.

    If that is implemented and set default off, I have no problem with it, but without, no thank you.

    gives too much opportunity for abuse. should not even be optionally allowed. people are too dumb to manage their own behavior today.

    This has been asked before and was shot down because of the spam that would come with them, like scam links, 3rd party trash sites and more.

    If you want people to be able to message you before friending then leave the comment section on your profile open. If someone pesters your comment section you can block them. I ignore nearly all friend requests that don't leave a comment 1st.

    NO!!!

    For the reasons that were already mentioned. It was a bad idea when it first first suggested and its still a bad idea now.
